Minor Request - Video Rewind Time

Hello all,

I have a minor request, and if it’s a setting that I can adjust somewhere and I missed it, please let me know.

When a video is playing and I hear something I immediately want to hear again, I hit the “right arrow” button. This rewinds the video. However, this rewinds the video 10 seconds, which seems to be quite a ways back if it’s something I would just like to hear again immediately or a few times in a row. Could this be changed to a 5 second rewind, or even 3 second rewind?

Thank you all for all that you do.

I highly recomment the free asb player chrome extension. (https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/asbplayer-language-learni/hkledmpjpaehamkiehglnbelcpdflcab)

Install it, open a video you want to watch on the cijapanese website, download the vtt subtitles from the video and drag and drop it directly onto the video. After that, you are able to hit the left and right key to jump exactly to the beginning of a scentence (according to the subtitles) or the next. Also pressing down disables/ enables the subtitles. Very convenient if you want to focus on hearing instead of listening, but also want to be able to look up words fast. (especially combined with Yomitan https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/yomitan/likgccmbimhjbgkjambclfkhldnlhbnn)

It needs some getting used to, but completely changed my way of watching videos for language learning. It also works with almost every website. e.g Netflix, Youtube, etc.

Here is a more detailed tutorial, with more info about the features: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYsf-NOVoYc

Small tip regarding cij : I rebound keys to WASD instead of the arrow keys, because hitting down and up regulates the volume. @dev Could there be an option to toggle this feature? Or make it somehow compatible with asb player?

Thank you very much for your response. I downloaded asbplayer and it seems super useful. I hadn’t heard of it before, but wow, it seems like it has a lot of great features. Thanks again so much!

Hey everyone!

@wyatt1991 There’s a setting on the Watch Settings page now for changing the seek distance (i.e. how far the video rewinds or jumps forward). Also, the default was changed from 10 to 5,but you can change it to whatever now.

@earlgrey There’s a setting on the Watch Settings page now for disabling the volume keys (the up arrow key and down arrow key) so that it won’t interfere with asbplayer. It’s under the “Advanced” heading.

Thank you both for the suggestions!
