Hi @diana!
Migakuâs video-related âSubtitle Browserâ feature (the one that adds a panel to the right of the video) will not work on our site. The only part of Migaku that will work on our site is its text-based features.
I checked with the Migaku staff, and they said that video is supported only on certain sites (e.g. YouTube, Netflix). So, thereâs no way for us to support Migaku; or rather, Migaku does not support sites like ours
.
Oh, I see! Thank you very much for checking!
There is a way to get something very similar to Migaku working with cijapanese using the free/open source âasbplayerâ plugin along with âyomichanâ plugin, on Chrome browser. These work with AnkiConnect and can be set up to sentence mine and create Anki cards.
Using just âasbplayerâ gives nice side panel interface to subtitles.
You need to download the subtitle file from a link you find when inspecting the cijapanese page using your browserâs Developer Tools. Maybe the vtt subtitle file could be made more easily accessible (e.g., via download button)?
You can actually see a little tutorial on how to use it to create Anki cards at the following youtube link. This happens to be using a cijapanese video on youtube, the only difference when using videos on the cijapanese site is that you have to manually download the subtitle file and load it into asbplayer, as I said before.
Thatâs great, thank you, I will use that download button. I hadnât noticed it before; on my laptop display itâs right-aligned. I had noticed only the left aligned set of links, need to look around a little more.
Sorry, a bit late. I asked the Migaku staff about this and got the same response. I still use Migaku with CJ site as I think it is one of the most direct ways to learn Japanese through immersion as a beginner, and I like having access to all of CJâs videos.
What I use is the google extension âSmart Audio Captureâ, to grab the audio snippet. Then right-click copy the video frame, and add the sentence directly from the transcript into Migaku. It is a three-step process, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes almost comparable in time-taken to Youtube/Netflix.
