Sos My level is beginner

Hello everyone,

I don’t really understand the idea of this website. I subscribed, but I noticed that it only listening and watching without any translation.

Is there a specific way I should start using it? My level is beginner.

Welcome!

Read the guide on the website, and start with the complete beginner videos. Repeat videos if you have troubles to understand them and you still stay engaged.

Start with a few minutes a day, build a habit, then increase your immersion volume.

You can take it really far just with those steps. There is also other strategies how to attack vocabulary and grammar, but other people use more those techniques.

There is always some people on the CIJ discord server which you can ask.

Welcome! Start with the ‘Complete Beginner’ videos. To find them, simply select: ‘Levels: Complete Beginner’, ‘Status: Unwatched Only’, and ‘Sort: Easiest’. Just relax and enjoy the first video. Don’t worry if you only understand a little bit at first and it’s perfectly normal to forget things you’ve previously grasped. Progress is a gradual, automatic process, much like learning to ride a bicycle - with practice, it becomes second nature. Once you have finished all the ‘Complete Beginner’ and ‘Beginner’ videos, I recommend watching them again. You can reset your progress from ‘watched’ to ‘unwatched’ in the settings to start the cycle anew. The goal is not to ‘learn’ the language through declarative memory, but to ‘acquire’ it through procedural memory.

You can read more about this in the guide, or watch Jeff McQuillan’s explanation in his YouTube video, ‘Fundamentals of Second Language Acquisition: A Crash Course’.

I was at the same point as you are in December. As another person responded select the sort by easiest and unwatched options and just start watching.

After watching through all the “absolute Beginner” content go back and rewatch it again. You will be amazed at how much you have learned.

The key is consistency, not binge watching. An hour a day will get you more than power watching for 7 hours once a week.

Sit back and enjoy, don’t let it stress you out. As long as you are paying attention to the visual ques in the video while watching you are doing it right. You are learning through context and your brain will take care of the rest in the background.
