Hi, everyone.
So, I’ve been learning very casually for over a year now and my progress has been as slow as the word “casual” suggests. Don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying the journey very much: I just haven’t learnt as much as I should.
Some basic grammar, some very limited vocabulary, kana, a hundred or so kanji and that’s the sum of my achievements after 18 months or so. Yeah, I know.
So far, my most helpful tools have been Migaku for ripping words/sentences from YouTube and Netflix videos and making flashcards, and the Miku Real Japanese audio course (by the lady who runs the YT channel of the same name). Both those have been invaluable and have really helped me where Anki and Pimsleur just didn’t work.
I’ve only watched a handful of CJI videos so far, but I feel that this site is also going to be a good fit for my random learning style.
Anyway, greetings from Cornwall, UK.
