Could we have a little more contrast between the different sections of the video playback progress bar, and/or make it more clear what the current position is?

I sometimes like to move to different parts of the video, but it’s often difficult to see exactly what the current position of playback is.

There are currently 3 sections of the progress bar:

  • already played (brightest)
  • unplayed, but buffered
  • not yet buffered (dimmest)

The problem is that the contrast between these three sections is quite low. So adding more contrast or colour here could help.

Something else that would help is if the current position was marked by something more than merely where the bar changes brightness. For example, how about a small circle, or a vertical line?

Thanks for pointing that out!

I updated the player so it’s higher contrast, and I removed the “unplayed but buffered” indicator since it’s not really that helpful.

It should be clear enough to know the current position without having a circle or vertical line, hopefully.
