どうやって日本語を勉強していますか?How do you study Japanese?

How do you study Japanese? And how do you incorporate CI Japanese into your studies?

Personally, I don’t really like studying from a textbook (even though I really like Tobira as a textbook) so I was really happy to find out about this website.

At the moment, the only consistent thing I do is watch at least 15 minutes of videos from this website every day. I also watch random videos on Youtube sometimes and occasionally watch J-dramas with Japanese subtitles if I have time.

As for reading, I’ve been using watanoc (a free web magazine in simple Japanese). It’s great, but it hasn’t been updated in years . Then thanks to this website, I found out about Meika先生’s blog. She chooses interesting topics to write about but writes her posts in simple Japanese, which makes reading Japanese fun even if you’re not very good at it like me.

So what about you? How do you study Japanese?

I plan to do an immersion type course with teachers – either I will design it and let tutors know how I want them to teach me or I will find a program that does this kind of teaching.

I mostly just use immersion materials to study – so if its not Netflix its Youtube or CIJ.

Currently watching this Japanese voice actor turned youtuber’s lets play series of Detroit: Become Human.

Textbook, videos [lessons, vlogs, podcasts, kids’ songs, folklore, etc], HelloTalk (occasionally), watching anime or tv [Takeshi’s Castle, shows on Viki], playing games with Japanese audio, language partner Anna-san, and talking to my dog about what I’m doing in Japanese. It’s almost time for tutoring, and in maybe a year, studying abroad.
