I thought an interesting idea would be to talk about the origins of melonpan, I remembered that when I first saw it I was shocked by how similar it looked to the Mexican sweet bread that my family eats. (the Spanish name for this bread is “concha” 「コンチャ」)

One theory is that Japan’s melonpan is based at least indirectly off of this Mexican bread. It’s also entirely likely there’s no connection; that seems to be the most widely accepted explanation, but there doesn’t seem to be a unanimous agreement on the origins (There does seem to be a likely connection between the concha and pineapple buns though, which is another similar sweet bread.)
I’m not sure if a good video could be made about this, but if nothing else I hope whoever reads this finds it interesting :3
